Whitecaps Look to Snap Three-Game Losing Streak

By: Finn Riley

Brewster, M.A. 一 The Whitecaps look to get revenge on the Bourne Braves in a doubleheader at Stony Brook Field, with the first pitch of game one at 2:30pm.

Grant Taylor (LSU) gets the nod for game one, and Joe Mancini (Boston College) will get the start for game two.

Taylor’s last outing against the Kettleers didn’t go very well for him, as he allowed three runs over three innings of work. However, Taylor displays much promise with his mid 90’s fastball and a knee-buckling curveball.

Mancini will look to build off of his last start where he struckout seven batters over five innings in a win against the Anglers.

The last time the Whitecaps faced off against the Braves was on opening day, where Brewster took a 5-3 loss.

After last night, the Whitecaps have now lost three games in a row, and have fallen to 5-7 on the year.

Over this three game losing streak, the Whitecaps have had increasingly concerning struggles on both sides of the ball.

The Brewster bats recorded just two runs off of two hits against the Anglers pitching, while the usually dominant Whitecaps pitching allowed seven runs, with six of them coming in the first two innings.

One thing to look out for in this doubleheader is the bat of Alex Freeland (UCF), who currently leads the Cape league in home runs with four on the season.
