Whitecaps Look to Carry Momentum into Playoff Run

By: Finn Riley

Brewster, M.A. — The top seed Brewster Whitecaps take on the fourth seed Harwich Mariners at Stony Brook Field in game one of the first round of the CCBL playoffs, starting at 4:00 pm.

In their last five games, the Whitecaps are 4-0-1 and are not looking to slow down after capturing their second division title in a row.

Zach Grace (Wake Forest) is making the start for his debut in a Whitecaps uniform.

Grace is coming over to the Whitecaps from the NECBL, where he posted a 2.40 earned average and collected 37 strikeouts through 30 innings of work.

Over the course of the 2022 Cape League regular season, the Whitecaps are 2-3-1 against the Mariners and hold the most recent victory in the rivalry.

Make sure to keep an eye out for a quality outing from Zach Grace, as he looks to carry over his success from the NECBL.

Also, watch for Whitecaps hitters Nick Lorusso (Maryland) and Kurtis Byrne (TCU) who have been red-hot as of late.

Byrne recently received honors as the Cape League Player of the Week for the laser show he put on in the final stretch of games, recording a .529 batting average and three home runs.
