Whitecaps are Back in the Big Dance

By: Finn Riley

Brewster, M.A. 一 It’s that time of year again, folks, the Brewster Whitecaps are back in the CCBL Championship Series and are facing off against the Bourne Braves. Game One is at Doran Park in Bourne and will begin at 6:00 pm.

The Caps are playing their best baseball at the perfect time, as they have swept the first two rounds of the playoffs and are looking to continue their onslaught against the Braves.

In the regular season, Brewster held a 3-1 record over Bourne, with the only loss coming on opening day.

On the mound for Brewster is Troy Butler (Herkimer CC) who is making his first appearance in a Whitecaps uniform.

Butler is coming to the Caps from the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball Summer League, where he posted a 3.21 earned run average through 42 innings of work and held a 4-3 record.

Butler will have plenty of room to breathe, as he’s bound to have plenty of run support from the scorching-hot bats of the Whitecaps lineup.

As a team, the Whitecaps are hitting a blistering .310 batting average while scoring 29 runs and totaling an astronomical 10 home runs.

For some perspective on the home runs, the Whitecaps hit 19 through 44 regular season games, and have already hit more than half that through just four playoff games.

Make sure to keep an eye out for the Whitecaps offense as a whole, but especially Carson DeMartini (Virginia Tech), as he recorded four home runs in the sweep of the Red Sox, with one of them being a 457-foot moonshot.
