Brewster, M.A. 一 The Whitecaps face the Y-D Red Sox at Stony Brook Field in the CCBL East Finals, starting at 4:00 pm.
For the second straight year, the Whitecaps find themselves on a hot streak in the playoffs, as they are coming off a sweep of the Harwich Mariners.
In game one, the Caps are having Hunter Owen (Vanderbilt) take the mound for his first start of the summer.
Owen, a returner from last year’s championship team, has been one of the more impactful arms out of the Whitecaps bullpen, posting a 3.24 earned run average through 8⅓ innings of relief.
Owen will be facing a smoking hot Red Sox lineup that totaled 20 runs off 27 hits against the Orleans Firebirds in the first round.
The Caps’ offense is similarly on fire, as they recorded a .275 batting average with four home runs through the first series.
Make sure to watch for a quality start from Hunter Owen, as he knows what it takes to win in the Cape League playoffs.
Also, keep an eye out for the fireworks show that is the Whitecaps offense, but more specifically, the bat of Cam Fisher (UNC Charlotte) who homered in each of the first two playoff games.
