Brewster, M.A. – Summer is upon us, which only means one thing, Brewster Whitecaps baseball is back. The Cape Cod baseball league defending champions are back in action Sunday night at Bourne to take on the Braves, with the first pitch coming at 6 pm.
The opening day matchup between Brewster and Bourne has no shortage of storylines. It will be a rematch of the 2021 Cape Cod Baseball League championship series, where Brewster swept Bourne 2-0 in a best two of three series. There are also significant storylines off the field, adding to this splendid opening day game.
Former Brewster Whitecaps pitching coach Scott Landers will be making his managerial debut in the Cape League, but for the Bourne Braves.
One other big storyline coming into the game will be a pitching matchup. Joe Mancini (RHP) from Boston College will be making his debut for the Whitecaps. He’ll go head to head against a familiar name in Brewster. Sam Bello (RHP); was a pitcher on the Whitecaps 2021 championship team. Bello will start on the bump Sunday night for Bourne.
It is a rematch for the ages and an opening day to excite all Brewster and Bourne fans. The stage is set for these two Cape League ball clubs as Whitecaps PA announcer Chris Lynch says, “Let’s have a ball game.”
